VA Home Loans in Rolla, Missouri

Since its founding Rolla, Missouri has always been tied to interstate travel, it was founded along the ‘Frisco Line’ railroad and was known as a great stop along Route 66. It’s the Home of the University of Missouri at Rolla, a school well-known for its engineering and mathematics programs.

It was first founded in 1858 and there are competing stories of how it got it’s name, one story says Rolla was named for a local ‘good-fur-nuthin’ dog, however the more commoly accepted story says it is named by some residents from North Carolina, in a tribute to their former home town Raleigh, NC; but with no-nonsense Missourians in charge they changed ‘that silly spelling’ to Rolla.

Rolla, MO is the closest city to Fort Leonard Wood a local military base that serves the U.S. Army in training the Army Corps of engineers, the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and the military police corps and carries the title of The U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence.
